Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
I offer confidential and tailored therapy to children, adolescents, young adults, and families located anywhere in Maryland. The first step is a free consultation, then an intake where we figure out if we are a good fit, and then sessions based on a frequency that feels good for the both of us.
How does virtual therapy work for a child?
You will set your child up in a room with reliable internet connection where they can be trusted to be alone for confidentiality. They can bring their favorite toys to share, I will bring my therapeutic toys, we can create art together, and/or we can play some online games! I usually spend 30-40 minutes with children separately and then we connect for the last 5-15 minutes to talk about what we worked on and how to incorporate it at home.
What makes you different?
I combine a thoughtful, person-centered approach with clear communication and reliable results. My extensive experience with telehealth helps me be engaging and empowering through the screen!
Where can I be during the session?
Due to regulations, you must be in Maryland during the call. I will confirm with you at the beginning you are in a safe space in the state of Maryland. But feel free to be however you feel most comfortable! And don’t worry, I am using HIPAA compliant platforms throughout my work so your privacy is protected.
How do I get started?
Easy! Reach out through my website, Psychology Today page, or email me at whittni@brave-buds.com and I will get back to you within the end of that week to schedule a free consultation or answer any questions you may have!
What would make us not a good fit?
While I get along great with clients, some topics and stressors are best left to in person services. I do not offer reunification therapy, therapy for high-conflict divorce or separation, or for children who have difficulty sitting at a device for therapy. Reach out and I would be happy to refer you to a trusted colleague if you are interested in any of these services!
