Who is Whittni?

That’s me! Hello there and welcome to my page.

I am a therapist who thrives in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I see this work as proactive, inspiring, and rewarding. I pride myself on being efficient and effective in my work, so you can guarantee you will be getting the highest quality therapy with me.

Now for you to know a little about me: I grew up in Southern Maryland and knew I wanted to be in the helping field in high school. I attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland where I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology with Minors in French + Anthropology. From there, I attended Towson University for my Master’s in Counseling Psychology.

While in graduate school, I completed my internship at a youth and family counseling non-profit. Halfway through my internship, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and I quickly learned telehealth services for children and adolescents. This became an invaluable experience that I use today in my practice. You can rest assure that I know how to be engaging and make you feel just as connected as in-person therapy from the comfort of your home.

Since graduating, I have been in the field since 2020 specializing in therapy with individuals as young as 3 and as old as 55. For my practice, I say I start at 7 due to little ones having a lower tolerance for telehealth requirements (sitting still, reading resources, playing games, etc.). However, I would be happy to work on parent coaching with guardians of little ones!

In my free time, I can be found doing some retail therapy, exploring new places with my dog, Brie, doing crafts at home, or playing pickleball.

What is my approach?

You’ll hear most therapists today say they are “eclectic” and that’s what I am! I take all the good stuff from various modalities and apply them where I can for you without singling you into one technique.

I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to work on changing the way you think, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to work on embracing the change in your life, play therapy to work on social skills and flexible thinking, and structural family therapy to work on integral parts of dynamics within your family.

Before turning back to therapy full-time, I was the Clinical Director at an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. There, I gathered countless of resources throughout Maryland that I would be happy to share with you as my client. Working with me means I have sifted through all of the resources and will only give you the best quality ones out there without you having to do all the work!

I also have extensive knowledge of school-based situations due to being a school-based therapist for many years. I am a great fit for those who are having difficulty with understanding or advocating for their child in school settings.
